The Laird Academy lets your child’s dreams come true!
In a happy and secure environment, toddlers and pre-school children will grow in confidence and gain co-ordination through basic early ballet skills.
The Laird Academy promotes excellence in ballet training and performance technique at all levels with all classes under the personal direction of the Principal, Deirdre Laird.
Weekday Ballet classes are based on the syllabus of the R.A.D. and encompass the age range from 2½ to 18 years. Yearly examinations are taken from 5 years of age upwards and more than 100 pupils each year successfully achieve high merits and distinctions in graded R.A.D and I.S.T.D modern and tap examinations.
R.A.D Major examination candidates all achieve high merits and distinctions.
Several pupils from the Laird Academy now attend the Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden, having been given places as Junior, Mid, and Senior Associates on Saturdays.
Non Syllabus Ballet and Pointe Work classes are available on a regular basis for more advanced students. Prior to all examinations, students are required to attend classes twice weekly to attain the expected levels of achievement.
Weekly classes are available in Modern and Tap under the auspices of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.) and examinations may be taken by selected candidates.
The Academy provides a wide-ranging Saturday Course, incoporating Jazz, Musical Theatre, Drama and Professional Vocal Coaching.
